To be happy and keep others happy too.......
...in the following ways:
- Positive talks and actions - even when emotionally charged
- Watching the DEER PARK Thimphu Friday Movie at least once a month
- Spending at least five minutes every morning in silent meditation
- Reading about happiness at least once a month
- One piece of work/assignment at a time
- Spending quality time with my husband and children at least during the weekend
- Calling mom at least once in two weeks
- Treating myself to some fun activity at least once in three months
As you will notice, the points above have not been numbered but bulletted. This means they are all equally important and not in order of priority. In fact, they are a checklist of reminders for 2010. I reflected on 2009 and previous years and felt lacking of these might have diluted my happiness and happiness of others around me.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL reading/following my blog!
A resolution of 'at least(s)'!
ReplyDeleteYeah, i thought 'at least' would make me do rather than not do at all, which is my usual tendency.
ReplyDeleteWhat use is of listing New Year's resolutions then? You'd rather do one ad hoc activity than sit and list many that you're not yourself confident about doing. Allow me to put forth my opinion: then aren't you making NY's resolutions for the sake of making? That said, you're better because you have 'at least'. I do not even make one. Let your 'at least' always mean the highest denominator!
ReplyDeleteResolutions for the sake of making??? Mmmmm.....let me think.....NO. I'm pretty much sure I'm serious about it for the first time in my life. Other years - I've only wished I could, but never really got down to resolutions as such. The only problem is I can't resort to the extremes or to rigidity. I guess I'm afraid of failing. But, if I made myself SMART - Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time bound - resolutions I thought I would be able to make some progress than if I made lofty resolutions and my progress was unmeasurable. Gosh! Do I make sense? I wonder...but, honestly, I'm serious about my resolutions. I do not know if I'm doing it the unconventional way, but I do mean to do it and to make it step at a time...with short term targets, leading gradually towards long term loftier targets. Thanks for your opinion. It made me think real hard. I hope my resolutions are not as bad as promising a bridge where there is no river. Hee hee
ReplyDeleteYour 'at least'-resolutions, I think, are not as bad as the widely touted Mao Khola (I'm not sure if it's right) Bridge yet. But it's just day 1 of MMX. You've 364 full days to keep or break your promise, but I'm afraid you do run the risk of incurring an infamous space alongside the Mao Khola Bridge.
ReplyDeleteok...the countdown continues ...
ReplyDeleteIt's a countdown, but do not count down to 'at least'; instead, count up from 'at least'. Wish you good luck.
ReplyDeletethanx...
