That was the deciding moment for
her. That night. She was alone in her room. It was in Spring. Ironically, a season of hope…but, Tashi was in
despair.
Her love, Tshering, said he was leaving. He was going to Canada. He had
said he would never leave her and there he was all prepared to go to Canada
without her.
How could he do this? How could he break her trust like this?
Everything around her seemed to fall apart. She wished him well, although her
heart was breaking into pieces at that moment.
And, when they had finished their
conversation on the phone, she broke into rivers of tears in the solitude of
her room. No one to talk to. No shoulders to cry on. Just a handkerchief to
wipe off her seemingly ever flowing tears.
She had never before felt such pain
in her heart. She texted him about how she was feeling. There was no response. The
message was pretty clear. He didn’t want to be with her.
So, she had a choice to make.
Fall apart. Get a drink. Get drunk. Cry more.
Or, pull herself together. Tell
herself it wasn’t the end. It was a lesson life had taught her. Move on.
She chose the latter. It wasn’t
easy, but not impossible either. She just had to make the decision and she did
so.
It was a sleepless night, though.
She kept waking up and thinking of her love. The thought of him going away, so
far away, was gripping her heart. Such a painful grip. Tears continued to flow
into her pillow.
She had thought it was love of a
lifetime. She discovered he had not intended to stay in her life. The truth
hurt, but what hurt more was that he had charmed her into believing him. His
love wasn’t love at all.
Thus, that night changed everything for
Tashi. Everything between her and Tshering.
It was the end and Tashi chose to think of it as the beginning of better.
